AAA congratulates Samia Sayad on her nomination for the 2022 Australia Day Volunteer of the Year Award
The Assyrian Australian Association (AAA) would like to congratulate Samia Sayad for her nomination for the 2022 Australia Day Volunteer of the Year Award.
Samia was awarded a certificate of achievement by Mayor Frank Carbone of Fairfield City Council at the annual Australia Day awards. Samia was nominated by the AAA for her contribution towards the Assyrian community and the Fairfield City LGA.
Samia was formerly a nurse, before retiring in 2009. Since then, her volunteer work in the health field has led to her to become part of the Participating Committee at Fairfield Hospital in 2015. She also joined the Consumer and Community Council at Liverpool Hospital, as well as the Cardiology Committee at Fairfield Hospital and is a member of the End-of-Life Committee, Patient Safety Committee and Transforming Your Experience Committee at Fairfield Hospital.
Mrs Sayad was one of the founders of the Assyrian Womens’ Committee in 1980 under Nineveh Club where she served for several years. Previously, she has been a recipient of the Outstanding Service to the Fairfield Community award, the Harry Collins Award for Excellence in Consumer and Community Participation and in 2019 was the Winner of the Multicultural Health award.
